1. To treat water and filter the water there are several different processes. one way is they run the water through a sereis of screens. another is to run it though a certain rock (like charcoal) to cleanse it and than backwash it. they also would put a series of grates in the holding tanks to further filter it. the most interesting thing is how they would add several chemicals to enhance the process.
they would add three different chemicals to the water.one was chlorean, they would add this to clean and kill the bacteria and other harmful toxins. the second chemical was phosphate they did this to coat the pipes to reduce run off from the metal. for example if little kids are exposed to lead it can lead to several deformities. the last chemical they added was flouride to make childrens teeth and bones stronger. also the lab was pretty interesting. they had to know several chemistry laws and rules to test things which adds a whole other side to how the water is treated.
